As with elsewhere in the world, lips, contouring and shading are key trends in the Middle East. Several of the region’s beauty bloggers have highlighted lip tutorials and products in Instagram or Facebook posts.
Huda Kattan, who earlier this year predicted lip contouring would follow face contouring as a major trend, seems to have been right. She however, has taken the trend to the next level in her latest lip tutorial, using her HudaBeauty brand’s newly released Rose Gold Eye Shadow Palette to show her fans how to create a metallic lip look. Posted on Instagram, the video garnered 861,000 views and some 600 comments, and shows Kattan using three different eye shadow shades from the palette to create the look. Also on lips, Saudi Beauty Blog featured a still-photo tutorial on how to create a subtle lip contour, which was liked 851 times on Instagram, as well as a Japonesque lip palette which it described as “a must for anyone who wants access to a lot of lip shades without having to carry a bunch of lipsticks.”
Palettes still strong
Other bloggers have been highlighting the palette trend. Nilo Haq asked her fans which fall release palette they wanted next among HudaBeauty Rose Gold Eye Shadow Palette, Master Palette by Mario, Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance or Kylie Cosmetics Bronze Palette. The 300+ commentators on the post seemed evenly divided among the first three, but few seemed keen to purchase the Kylie Cosmetics palette.
With metallic pigments clearly becoming more popular in the region, Najla Kaddour shared an Insider Beauty video on her Facebook page featuring Smolder Cosmetics glitter eyeshadow products, which has been viewed more than seven million times. Still on eyes, nearly 18,000 people liked a post by Ascia AKF giving them the chance to win a new Bourjois mascara that features a built-in mirror on the tube. An Instagram post about the same product from Dala AlDoub gathered nearly 14,000 likes. Sondos Alqattan meanwhile, used Kiko Perfect Eye Duo Highlighter pencil to demonstrate to her fans how to create perfectly shaped eyebrows. True to her style, Huda Kattan featured an eyeshadow blending tutorial using sticky tape to create clean lines around the eyes which was viewed more than a million times on Instagram.
Facial contouring has taken the globe by storm and the Middle East is no exception, with the trend still popular among bloggers and their fans. Eljammi posted a contouring tutorial for a night out on her Instagram account using products from Huda Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Tarte Cosmetics. The post, in which she commented “the trick to all of this is to blend until your hands are tired”, gathered some 14,000 views. A similar post in which she created an autumn look using Tarte Cosmetics Styled by Hrush palette was viewed 26,000 times.
In nails, both Saudi Beauty Blog and Huda Kattan shared a neutral look posted by lalitacoraje that featured a Christian Louboutin Tutulle nail color matched to the same shade of lipstick.
